The LM386 is a low voltage audio power amplifier integrated circuit (IC) widely used in various audio applications. It’s compact, efficient, and requires minimal external components, making it an excellent choice for hobbyists and professional engineers alike.
Pin Configuration:
- Pin 1 & 8: Gain Control – Adding a capacitor between these pins increases the gain.
- Pin 2: Inverting Input (-).
- Pin 3: Non-inverting Input (+).
- Pin 4: Ground (GND).
- Pin 5: Output.
- Pin 6: Supply Voltage (Vcc).
- Pin 7: Bypass – Used to connect a capacitor for noise filtering.
Features of LM386:
- Wide Operating Voltage Range: It operates on a voltage range of 4V to 12V (or 5V to 18V for some variants).
- Low Power Consumption: Ideal for battery-operated devices.
- Adjustable Gain: The gain is internally set to 20, but it can be increased up to 200 using an external capacitor and resistor.
